Sir Richard Trehane retired as Chairman of the Milk Marketing Board in 1977. To mark his a tremendous contribution to the Board and to the dairy industry worldwide a Trust was launched to provide awards for study of any aspect of the dairy industry.

Funds from the trust are made available for Trehane scholars to travel and research their chosen study. The aim is that they improve their knowledge and understanding of the industry and return enriched, enlightened and ready to share their ideas with others.

Trehane Trust Awards have been made annually since 1979 and there are now more than 60 scholars.
