The Trehane Trust was launched in 1977 to help those in any sector of the dairy industry who want the opportunity to learn more about it. More than 60 scholars have benefited over its history. Past Award winners have studied a very wide variety of subjects, including marketing and processing, and have travelled to countries such as Australia, Chile, Greece, Japan, New Zealand and the United States. Copies of their report are available from the Nuffield Farming Scholarships Trust. Learning more about the dairy industry and those who work in it, both at home and abroad, is an excellent way of helping to ensure that the United Kingdom maintains and, if possible, increases its competitiveness in world markets. Those normally resident in the United Kingdom are invited to study a subject of their own choice connected with the industry by applying for a Trehane Award. Successful candidates will normally be over 24 years of age and under 45. The successful applicants will be paid all reasonable expenses, including any necessary travelling abroad. Exceptionally, some assistance may be available to take account of other costs incurred during the period of study. |
